BlueTriton Brands Canadian employees support Project Water to help keep homeless population hydrated

For 23 years, BlueTriton Brands Canadian employees have supported Project Water to keep people experiencing homelessness hydrated in Toronto. To date, the company has donated almost five million bottles of Pure Life® Natural Spring Water to the organization.

“Giving to those in need is simply part of who we are,” said Scott McIntyre, General Manager of BlueTriton Brands Canada. “This year perhaps more than ever, there is a life-sustaining need to get clean bottled water to the homeless. We are honored to have been partners in Project Water for the past 23 years.”

Project Water is an Engage and Change program committed to helping those less fortunate endure the hardships of summer by providing such necessities as: bottled water, a re-usable water bottle, a ball cap, socks, and hygiene items.

“The number of cases requested by agencies each year for clean drinking water is staggering,” said Jody Steinhauer, founder of Project Water. “It is not unusual for a homeless person to have to walk over 15 km every day in search of water.”

In June 2023, some BlueTriton Brands Canadian employees volunteered their time to distribute bottles of water and 3,000 survival kits of essential items to outreach providers and homeless shelters to provide life-saving resources to the homeless in extreme summer weather conditions. 360,000 bottles of Pure Life® water have been donated this year.

“It’s staggering to know that more homeless people die of dehydration during summer than exposure during winter,” said Doyin Abanishe, Pure Life Marketing Manager. “What Project Water has been doing is an amazing initiative. Year after year, we throw our weight behind it. This is what it means to be a brand that cares about healthy hydration. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of it this year!”

“I was privileged to be a part of Project Water where I participated among other donors, volunteers, and supporters for a noble cause of reaching society with safe drinking water,” said Pritam Kumar Saha, Key Account Representative at BlueTriton Brands. “We must take up this cause and contribute to our fullest!”

“Hundreds of thousands of people are homeless in Canada and the number continues to rise,” said Chrystal Adkins, Director, C&G and Regional Accounts at BlueTriton Brands. “Project Water as well as Change and Engage are doing more than their part to help these people.  I am proud of the support we provide to these initiatives and believe we all need to do more.”

Since 2000, Project Water has placed more than 4.6 million bottles of water into the hands of the homeless in Toronto and surrounding areas.
